(1) Under the plenary power it is hereby ruled that the specific name sylvanus Esper, 1777, as published in the binomen Papilio sylvanus, is not invalid by reason of being a junior primary homonym of Papilio sylvanus Drury, 1773 . Illustr. Nat. Hist. 2: 5, pl. 3, fig. 2-3, index [1]. The specific name Papilio sylvanus Esper, 1777 was placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology by Opinion 1944 (ICZN, 2000.

(2) The name 'venatus' (ORIG Hesperia venata Bremer et Grey, 1852) is still used to refer to this species.a/ this name is posterior to 'sylvanus Esper, 1777' ; b/ it refers to a distinct Asian species.
